An Unalienable Right to Elect Representation

Extremely difficult times are at hand. We the People are being forced to change.

It is clear to Washington that we are a stubborn people, foolishly clinging to our bibles and our guns instead of voluntarily embracing the political climate of the day.

Consequently the laws of our land are being changed to force our compliance with the tolerance mantra of our government wherein the beliefs and values of our Founding Fathers are now deemed too intolerant and unacceptable for today’s society.

I was blessed to grow up during an age when we were expected to be red blooded, God fearing American citizens.


We said the prayer and the pledge of Allegiance before school and were taught that the laws of our land find their preeminence in the teachings of the Bible.

We flew our flags proudly and took exception with anyone wanting to steal our freedoms and our liberties.

We studied the words of the Declaration of Independence and of the Constitution with its affirmed Amendments. We knew that the first ten amendments are our Bill of Rights.

We learned that fifty states joined together of free will and common ideology to form one sovereign nation which we call the United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence is eloquently and distinctly worded with strong statements endorsing the establishment of guiding principles.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

These words form the beginning of the Declaration of Independence and were proclaimed on July 4, 1776 when 13 British colonies became 13 United States.

Two hundred thirty four years later our Christian principled, old fashioned American beliefs and values are being outlawed. Why? The answer is spiritually based and easy to understand.

In my 47 years I have witnessed a predominantly Christian nation choose to stay home on election days, authoritatively reminding each other that it is God who sets up governments and it is God who will take them down.

There is no power but of God, right? Isn’t that what the apostle Paul meant in the 13th chapter of the book of Romans?

The answer is a resounding yes and we as Christians have found great solace in our spiritually derived conclusion that we hold no power to influence matters of government. Are we right in our understanding of this?

It is irrefutably true that God set up the government of the United States but who did God give the authority to determine who would govern the people of this new nation?

Undeniably God gave us the unalienable right to elect those who will represent us!

The right to be self governed is a blessing of God!

Why have we abdicated that right?

Bondage is the condition of men who have lost their freedom and their liberty.

The Nation of Israel was placed in bondage for electing unrighteous, riotous men to rule over them. Now we are being placed in a form of bondage for the same cause.

We are becoming subjects to the very government which God gave us so we had the earthly authority to be self governed.

Long before I was born the Christian majority began to facilitate the election of individuals based on their prominence or where they were from or because they were gifted speakers scratching our itching ears with the sounds we want to hear.

When our politicians abandon their Christian constituents we assure each other that it is only to seek broader appeal among the voters and even after they prove themselves to be irresponsible we leave them in place.

The atrocities of our day are the direct result of electing unqualified, ungodly men and women!

This generation of Americans can no longer ignore or deny the cause and effect of electing ungodly men and women.

We are removing all the evidence of God from our courthouses, federal buildings and public places! What is next? How long will God’s people sit idle?

We are a sovereign nation which allows us to be tolerant within reason.

Reason stops where tolerance infringes on the rights of legal citizens to practice the traditional American belief and value system of our Founding Fathers or violates the guiding principles of the Constitution.

A remnant of godly legislators remain but it is the ungodly who fire steady salvos in the name of tolerance and personal liberty resulting in laws which contradict God’s laws and violate the principles of our Constitution! By the grace of God we have the right to be self governed.

This is a call for all Christians to bring glory and honor to God in everything we do including encouraging godly candidates to run for elected office then continuing steadfast and strong by exhorting each other to exercise our God given right to vote. As for me and my household, we shall serve the Lord.
